Using BBQ seasoning for chicken to create the most delectable dishes

Chicken—the fan favourite of grilling enthusiasts everywhere! It’s everyone’s default meat dish for almost any occasion and it can be cooked relatively quickly and in a number of ways.

As far as grilling meat goes, chicken is one of the easiest meats to work with. Thanks to its soft meat and supple quality, there are many ways you can experiment with chicken dishes.

On that note, since chicken has a somewhat mild flavour, you might want to use some BBQ seasoning for chicken to add another layer of deliciousness to your poultry. But here’s the catch—you can’t just throw some seasoning on your chicken and call it a day—you have to do it right!

So here’s a simple guide on how you can use BBQ seasoning for chicken like a pro.

Pat the chicken dry

Before applying the BBQ seasoning, you’ll need to dry the chicken a bit. To do this, just place your chicken on a clean baking pan and use paper towels to pat it dry on all sides.

By doing this, you can remove any excess moisture and contaminants on the chicken. Continue to pat the chicken dry until the paper towels stop showing any signs of moisture.

And don’t forget to wash your hands afterwards—raw chicken can carry bacteria like salmonella!

Oil up your chicken

Now that your chicken is nice and dry, you have to add in a medium that can help the seasoning stick to your chicken.

All you have to do is take a teaspoon of olive oil and apply a light layer of it on your chicken. Don’t use too much olive oil as it can lead to the BBQ seasoning running off. Try to place the chicken in a bowl to avoid spilling the oil.

If you’re not a big fan of olive oil, you can use another vegetable oil instead, such as sunflower oil.

Apply an even layer of seasoning

Now comes the tricky part—you need to apply an even layer of seasoning to your chicken. A good tip is to use your non-dominant hand to scoop the BBQ seasoning onto your chicken but make sure to add 1 teaspoon of the seasoning per 450g of chicken to get an even coating.

Now that you have the seasoning on your chicken, by using your dominant hand, you have to rub the seasoning onto the chicken. To make sure the seasoning is deeply absorbed by the chicken meat, move your hand in a kneading motion.

Continue to rub the spices until every part of the chicken is covered in a generous coating of BBQ seasoning.

Get under the chicken’s skin

If you’re planning on grilling the chicken with the skin on, you should apply the BBQ seasoning under the skin as well.

All you need to do is carefully loosen the skin from the meat on the thigh and breast areas and rub a teaspoon of BBQ seasoning for chicken between the skin and the meat. Don’t loosen the skin up too much as this could lead to it crinkling up during grilling.

Store your seasoned chicken

If you don’t plan to grill your chicken right away, you should consider storing it. Place it into a clean airtight container and place it in your refrigerator. You can also use a resealable plastic bag if you don’t have a container lying around.

Since dry seasoning won’t tenderise your chicken, you won’t have to worry about leaving your seasoned chicken for a long time in the refrigerator. But try not to leave the chicken in the fridge for more than two days!

And there you have it—a beautifully seasoned chicken ready to be grilled to perfection!

Don’t forget to get a great BBQ seasoning for chicken

The key to a perfectly grilled chicken isn’t just how you cook it—it’s also about how you prepare your chicken with a hearty dash of savoury (and sweet) seasoning! But before you start seasoning, you should look out for the perfect BBQ seasonings for your grilling.

So hunt for that perfect seasoning and get your grill on!
