Different types of grilling seasoning that you must consider for your next BBQ

What’s the best way to feed guests when you’re having a lawn party at your place? Grilling!

Grilled chicken, lamb, beef, seafood, or even vegetables—there’s nothing quite like the smoky flavour of these delectable dishes. Now, every grill master knows that there’s one thing that can make grilled meat irresistible—grilling seasoning.

While many may say that it’s the sauces that bring out the flavour of the meat—the real key ingredient is the seasoning. Salt, pepper, and paprika are all great seasonings, but they can be a little “basic” at times; sometimes, you might want to get a tad creative with your seasoning.

Want to make grilled meat that’ll surprise your mates? Here are some unexpected but undeniably delicious grilling seasonings!

Fajita seasoning

Want to give your grilled dishes a tasty Mexican twist? Give fajita seasoning a try! This delicious seasoning is made using just a few Mexican seasonings, which include chilli powder and cumin. It may have some additional spice thrown in, like paprika, and onion and garlic powder too.

One great thing about this seasoning is that it’s very versatile; whether it’s grilled fish, veggies, or beef, this seasoning works beautifully for all of them!

Shawarma seasoning

If you want to add some Middle Eastern flavour to your grilled meat, how about trying a shawarma blend? This seasoning works great for both chicken and beef and it’s quite easy to make. All you need to do is mix together roasted cumin, garlic, cardamom, allspice, turmeric, coriander, white pepper, and a pinch of sea salt and you’re done!

If you’re grilling chicken, you could try marinating your chicken in yoghurt, but you can apply the shawarma blend directly as well. If you’re having vegetarian guests over—don’t worry! Shawarma seasoning can be applied to vegetables and tofu too!

Jalapeno seasoning

If you’re looking to give your grilled meat and veggies a spicy kick, you can’t go wrong with jalapeno seasoning. Made from dried and ground jalapenos, along with a few other savoury ingredients, this seasoning is a treat for anyone who loves spicy foods!

Even if you don’t add jalapeno seasoning before grilling your meat and veggies, you can sprinkle some of it on your finished dishes for that chef’s kiss, delectable goodness.

Chipotle seasoning

his is another great Mexican-inspired seasoning that combines spiciness and sweetness. Made from smoke-dried and grounded jalapeno peppers, this seasoning can make your grilled meat and veggies spicy without the flavour overwhelming the dish.

If you want to have some sides, like soups and dips, at your gathering, you can even sprinkle a little chipotle seasoning into them to give them a sweet and spicy twist!

All-purpose seasoning

As the name suggests, this is a super-versatile blend of seasoning that can be added to all kinds of dishes, be it grilled meat and veggies or other dishes that don’t involve smoking or grilling.

This seasoning offers a mix of amazing flavours, from spicy to sweet, and it can be added before grilling your meat and veggies to let the sugars in it caramelise, or after to preserve some more of that sweetness.

Bombay curry seasoning

Bombay curry seasoning is made using a mix of Indian spices, such as turmeric, curry leaves, fenugreek, coriander, and cloves. Most Indian dishes are considered to be quite spicy, but Bombay curry seasoning is mild yet flavourful.

This seasoning is a great choice for anyone who isn’t a big fan of spicy grilled dishes while offering a warm and rich flavour akin to authentic Indian curry dishes.
