Preparing some unique Halloween chicken dishes this spooky season is a convenient choice and may also appeal to guests who prefer poultry as their choice of protein.

Halloween monster chicken sliders

Make these easy-to-grab-and-devour chicken sliders to feed your party crowd this Halloween.

Once you’ve skinned and cleaned the chicken breasts, mix a sauce with a prominent smoky flavour that complements poultry and seasonings. Pour the sauce over the chicken and slow-cook for about 4 hours.

Shred the chicken once it’s cooked and fill your bread rolls with it. You can choose to top it with guacamole or some chopped red onion and cilantro.

Once the rolls are filled, cut two small slits on top of each slider which can hold the ‘eyes’ of the monster that can be made by cutting string cheese into circles and sticking triangles of black olives on the cheese circles.

Chicken pumpkins

Trick your guests with this pumpkin-shaped chicken treat this Halloween. You can allow the chicken to marinate overnight to enhance the flavour, but you can always opt to make it on the day of your gathering as well.

Cut your chicken breasts in half, lengthwise, and set aside. Next, you can move on to making your buttermilk marinade which is a mixture of buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Submerge the chicken and refrigerate it overnight or for at least two hours.

Crush up some cheese crackers, take your chicken out of the fridge, and proceed to coat it in the cracker crumbs. Add a mozzarella cheese stick in the middle and roll up the chicken to seal the cheese and fry till it’s golden brown.

Prepare the pumpkin stalks by cutting celery stalks into 1-inch pieces and inserting them into the centre of each pumpkin so it sticks in the cheese. Serve them hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Devilish chicken wings

Everyone enjoys a good serving of sticky, spicy chicken wings. The secret lies in the glaze that coats the wings. Get it perfect and you’ll have the best chicken wings you’ve ever had!

In a small bowl, mix chilli powder, ground coriander, seasonings, and paprika and sprinkle the mix over the chicken wings. Toss to completely coat the wings and roast them for about 40-45 minutes.

While the wings are cooking, make your dip by mixing sour cream, chives, and a pinch of salt. Refrigerate till it’s ready to be served.

For the glaze, combine a smoky and spicy flavoured sauce, honey, and a few drops of red food colouring. Once the chicken’s cooked, brush the glaze on the wings and return it to the oven for about 10 minutes until it’s fragrant and sticky.

Serve with the sour cream dipping sauce.
